About Oban
Oban, "The Gateway to the Isles" sits on a small sheltered
bay. The Islands of Kerrera lies just off the coast and further in
the distance the hills of Mull are visible.
Above the town site McCaigs Tower, the Colloseum like structure built 100 years ago by local banker, John Stuart McCaig. It offers superb panoramic views of the town and the Islands.
There are a wealth of restaurants and cafes with excellent local seafood readily available.
Glencruitten Golf Club is close at hand and walkers will find the surrounding countryside offers plenty of good walks.
Further afield Argyll has many castles, grand houses and gardens, distilleries and stunning scenery.
